Pat Pazmino, MD FACS

Dr. Pazmiño is a board certified plastic surgeon in private practice for over 20 years in Miami, FL. His clinical practice is focused on body contouring, breast surgery, and minimally invasive aesthetic surgery.
Dr. Pazmiño's epidemiologic and cadaver research on patient safety in fat grafting was published in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal and was awarded ASJ's Best Domestic Paper for 2023. (https://mia.one/asjbbl). His anatomic papers that detailed previously undescribed subcutaneous gluteal anatomy (https://mia.one/asjdeep) laid the foundation for his subsequent clinical paper that described his ultrasound guided gluteal fat grafting technique in 4200 patients. This technique has allowed surgeons to visualize and manipulate the subcutaneous gluteal anatomy and perform consistently precise and safe gluteal fat grafting (https://mia.one/sime). His work was cited by the British Assoc of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) in 2022 when they reversed their national ban on gluteal fat grafting (t.ly/RApos). In 2023, the Florida state legislature used these papers as the foundation for the first plastic surgery law in America that mandated that all gluteal fat grafting in the state of Florida must be performed with ultrasound guidance. This has elevated the standard of care, protected patients, and has dramatically decreased the mortality rate in Florida.
For these efforts, Dr. Pazmiño has been awarded the Tiffany Award by the Aesthetic Society and the Patient Safety Award by the Aesthetic Foundation.
Dr. Pazmiño continues his epidemiologic work in patient safety, his cadaver and anatomic research in the subcutaneous compartments and muscles, incorporating artificial intelligence in the OR, and his legislative advocacy, to gain a better understanding of our anatomy, develop new surgeries, protect patients, and help push our specialty forward.
