Joseph Van Vleet is a respiratory care practitioner who works in the role of Pulmonary Navigator at the University of California Los Angeles Medical Center in Westwood and Santa Monica. He graduated from the Los Angeles Valley College Respiratory Therapy Program and received his bachelor degree in Respiratory Care at the University of Missouri. He has over 8 years of clinical experience at UCLA working in the NICUs, various adult ICUs, Emergency Department, and assists with performance improvement projects and research at both campuses. He helped develop the Post-ICU Recovery Clinic with the pulmonary team at UCLA and assists with recruitment and as clinic respiratory therapist. In the hospital, as pulmonary navigator, he operates the Ubreathe consult service, which provides education to pulmonary/chronic lung patients during their hospitalizations, assistance with ordering RT DME, and the development and optimization of home RT regimens, as well as post-discharge follow-up.
