Mazen Odish, M.D.

Mazen Odish, MD, is a board-certified pulmonologist and critical care physician. Dr. Odish completed his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and his residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Pediatrics.
Dr. Odish is clinically active in both the intensive care unit and pulmonary clinic, where he cares for general pulmonary patients as well as the most critically ill. He has a strong passion for medical education and received multiple teaching awards during residency, including the Internal Medicine Graduating Resident Humanism and Teaching Award. During fellowship, he was honored twice as Internal Medicine Fellow of the Year and served as Chief Fellow. As an attending physician, he received the Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine Teaching Attending of the Year Award.
His clinical and research interests focus on acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). He has been awarded NIH funding for research in ventilator management for patients supported with ECMO. Dr. Odish is a core member of the UCSD ECMO education team, performs ECMO cannulation and extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR), and is a key member of the mobile ECMO team.
