Andres Schuster, is a general cardiologist and the System Medical Director of Adult Echocardiography at University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute.
Dr. Schuster earned his medical degree with highest honors from the University of Los Andes School of Medicine in Santiago, Chile. His postgraduate training included an internal medicine residency and and cardiovascular disease fellowship at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. He then completed fellowships in heart failure and cardiac transplantation, as well as advanced cardiac imaging, as well as advanced cardiac imaging, at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.
Prior to joining UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute, Dr. Schuster held leadership roles as Deputy Director of the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit and Director of the Cardio-Oncology Unit and Director of the Cardio-Oncology Unit at Clinica Alemana in Santiago, Chile. He also served as co-author of national cardio-oncology guidelines for the government of Chile. He has extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of common and complex cardiovascular conditions, with particular expertise in valvular heart disease.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Schuster is a manuscript reviewer for the Chilean Journal of Cardiology and previously served as coordinator of the NBE–Imaging Society of the Inter-American Society of Cardiology (SISIAC) examination translation in Latin America. He has authored more than 40 clinical publications, book chapters, and abstracts on topics including heart failure, cardiomyopathies, pericardial disease, and acute coronary syndromes.
