Denise Sorrentino, MD, FACC, FHRS
I am a practicing electrophysiologist and physician chief of operations for the Iowa Heart Center/MercyOne. I have been with this multispecialty cardiovascular practice for 30 years and physician COO for 4 years.
I have a split administrative job and continue to practice electrophysiology including all platforms of device implants and ablations. I oversee operations for all service lines within our large practice including 44 physicians and over 50 advanced practice providers.
I attended The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine for medical school as well as internal medicine residency. My training was then completed with four years at Emory University for cardiology and electrophysiology fellowships.
I am a wife of 40 years and proud mother to 4 adult children. I have truly spent a lifetime creatively balancing home and full-time electrophysiology life.
My passion is the evolution of medicine to a true patient centered practice based on accessible patient education and collaboration. Personalized medicine will be the key to identify pre disease risk factors and markers which can result in prevention of the disease state. Along with personalized medical data, a focus on RPM (remote patient monitoring) and digital platforms will allow cardiologists and electrophysiologists to focus on prevention and excellent patient care. Most all forms of heart disease are preventable. We are ready to evolve into this state for all of our patients.
I love public speaking and am honored to be involved in WIC Midwest this year!
