I am a 58 year old long-term survivor and volunteer HIV consumer advocate who has been living with HIV since the mid-1990’s. I was raised and have lived in Fort Worth off and on for most of my life. I am an active member of the LGBTQ+ community.
My professional experience includes secretarial/administrative, healthcare delivery and administration in a clinical setting, and management positions in the health/dental/life insurance industry.
I have completed Training for Consumers on Quality Plus (TCQPlus) offered through HRSA’s Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Center for Quality Improvement and Innovation. TCQPlus is an advanced training provided to further build the skills of consumers to participate in quality improvement activities in agencies funded by the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program.
I am a member of the Tarrant County Quality Management (QM) Committee. The QM Committee is a mechanism of the Tarrant County HIV Administrative Agency (TCHAA) to monitor quality assurance initiatives within subrecipient agencies representing Ryan White Parts A, B, C, D, HOPWA, EhE, and State Services programs.
I am the community co-chair of the TCHAA CQII create+equity Collaborative Team.
I am the consumer member of the Texas Department Of State Health Services CQII create+equity Collaborative Team.
I am a founding member of the HIV Health Improvement Team (HIT HIV), the Tarrant County Consumer Advisory Board, whose goal is to further quality improvement related activities in support of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program. One emphasis of HIT HIV is on providing the necessary training and support required to increase consumer participation and diversity in ending the HIV epidemic.
I’m the founder and co-facilitator of HIT HIV HOPE, Health of Positive Elders, a subgroup of HIT HIV, focused on the needs of the aging population with HIV
I am the Treat Pillar Co-Chair of the Tarrant County HIV Task Force, the local ending the HIV epidemic initiative.
I am a member of the National HIV & Aging Advocacy Network.
I am a consumer member of the Tarrant County HIV LPAP Formulary Committee.
I served three years on the North Central Texas HIV Planning Council (NCTHPC). During my tenure I served on the Positive Voices (Consumer) Committee, the Allocations Committee, the Comprehensive Planning Committee, and the Executive Committee.
