Yale–National Education Alliance for Borderline Personality Disorder
The conference is aimed at mental health professionals, training clinicians, and researchers, as well as those with lived BPD experience and their family members. Our presenters include researchers, treatment developers, master clinicians, and individuals with lived experience of BPD. These presenters make cutting edge research and practice accessible to both professional and lay audience members, and ample time is provided for questions from the audience throughout the conference day.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for an audience of psychologists, social workers, mental health professionals, emergency department personnel, hospital-based staff, physicians, nurses, and other medical and healthcare professionals as well as people with lived experience, family members and caregivers.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this conference, participants will be able to:
- Describe current research and clinical perspectives on borderline personality disorder (BPD), chronic emotion dysregulation, and factors associated with risk and resilience.
- Identify mentalization and validation strategies that can be used to improve communication, strengthen relationships, and support individuals experiencing chronic emotion dysregulation.
- Apply evidence-informed, skills-based strategies to address maladaptive interpersonal patterns and enhance interactions among individuals with BPD, family members, and couples.
- Integrate research findings, clinical perspectives, and lived-experience perspectives to inform person-centered and family-informed approaches to supporting individuals with BPD and their loved ones.
