Luis Ortiz, MD
Dr. Luis E. Ortiz, MD is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a pediatric sleep medicine physician at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he has practiced since 2018. His clinical interests include narcolepsy, hypersomnia, obstructive sleep apnea, and skeletal dysplasias, and his research examines the patient experience of living with narcolepsy.
Dr. Ortiz earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, completed a combined residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at Charleston Area Medical Center, and went on to fellowships in pediatric pulmonology at Johns Hopkins University and in sleep medicine at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is board certified in internal medicine, pediatrics, pediatric pulmonology, and sleep medicine.
Personally living with narcolepsy, Dr. Ortiz brings a unique, empathetic perspective to his clinical practice. This firsthand experience deeply informs his advocacy and educational work, allowing him to provide highly personalized care and support for patients and families navigating sleep disorders and rare diseases.
