Addressing Unmet Diagnostic and Treatment Needs in Narcolepsy: A Wake-Up Call for Primary Care Clinicians
Narcolepsy is far more than excessive daytime sleepiness. Diagnostic delays and persistent unmet needs leave many patients struggling for years before receiving appropriate care. In this highly interactive symposium, sleep medicine experts will combine evidence-based case discussions with an animated mechanism-of-action segment and authentic patient video stories to bring the science and lived experience of narcolepsy to life. A featured highlight is Dr. Ortiz, a sleep specialist who lives with narcolepsy himself, offering a rare and powerful perspective as both clinician and patient on the challenges of diagnosis, treatment, and living with the disease. Together, these experiences will equip frontline clinicians to recognize narcolepsy earlier and apply emerging treatment strategies with greater confidence.

- Explain current evidence on ORX2-targeting therapies for NT1 and how they compare to symptom-specific conventional therapies
- Identify features/symptoms consistent with NT1 using clinical history, patient interviews, exam findings, and screening tools appropriate for primary care/internal medicine
- Describe when and how to initiate diagnostic testing and specialty referral for patients with suspected NT1
