Peptide Therapy In Clinical Practice

Peptide Therapy in Clinical Practice is an enduring, introductory CME activity created to provide healthcare providers and practitioners with a foundational, evidence-informed approach to peptide therapy and its potential integration into clinical practice. As interest in peptide-based interventions continues to grow, many clinicians have had limited formal education in this area. This course is designed to help bridge that gap through a balanced review of peptide science, safety considerations, practical application, and responsible clinical decision-making.

Learners are introduced to the fundamentals of peptide therapy, including what peptides are, how they function, related concepts of physiological decline, mechanisms of action, delivery methods, peptide classification, and representative clinical examples. The activity explores commonly discussed areas of peptide use such as metabolism and weight support, energy and mitochondrial function, inflammation and tissue repair, cognitive and mood support, and sleep and recovery. The course also addresses clinical guidelines, provider roles, scope-of-practice considerations, legal and ethical issues, patient education strategies, expectation-setting, clinical intake basics, and key disclaimers related to non-FDA-approved peptides.

To enhance practical relevance, the activity includes case-based learning, quick-reference charts summarizing peptide mechanisms and potential uses, oral versus injectable considerations, and a post-course assessment quiz. Overall, this course is intended to support learners in developing a clearer, safer, and more evidence-informed framework for understanding and discussing peptide therapy in practice.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for licensed healthcare providers and clinical practitioners seeking a foundational, evidence-informed introduction to peptide therapy and its responsible integration into practice. The target audience includes physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, and other allied healthcare professionals interested in expanding their knowledge of peptide mechanisms, safety considerations, patient education, and practical clinical application.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the foundational principles of peptide therapy, including what peptides are and how they function in the body.
  • Explain common peptide mechanisms of action, delivery methods, and classifications relevant to clinical practice.
  • Identify key legal, ethical, and scope-of-practice considerations related to peptide therapy, including important limitations surrounding non-FDA-approved peptides.
  • Recognize clinical areas in which peptides are commonly discussed, including metabolism and weight support, energy and mitochondrial function, inflammation and tissue repair, cognitive and mood support, and sleep and recovery.
  • Apply evidence-informed principles to patient education, expectation-setting, and introductory peptide-inclusive clinical planning.
  • Evaluate safe, responsible, and clinically appropriate approaches to integrating peptide education into practice.
